Radio Economics Interview
James Reese at Radio Economics interviewed Barry L. Ritholtz, Judge Richard Posner, and me about the financial crisis.
The four questions are: Is this an economic/financial crisis and is it a fundamental change in the world economies? What was the cause? What is the impact and which groups will be most affected (household, retirees, etc.) Can the crisis be cured - will the bailout work and should the government keep a hands off approach or install more regulation? The experts that Reese interviewed are Mark Thoma, Barry L. Ritholtz, and Judge Richard Posner (interview will be posted later this week).
He said our answers were radically different on some questions.

Wow. You think things are so bad that retirees/near retirees should switch from stocks to treasuries in the near term. Even after the current emergency, a 3 to 5 year period of sub par growth is likely. Somber news for those who are retired/near retired, and need their 401k money to live on. Especially so with treasury rates lower than inflation. Is there any hope for retirees?
