I did not know her, but enjoyed and was edified by her writings. A great contributor to understanding. Best to her friends and family.

A great loss to the blogosphere and to the country - not only for helping us understand the mortgage business, but also because she was one of the few bloggers who understood credit.

Sad news indeed. It's like a bright light going off. Hopefully, her writings will keep illuminating the darkest crannies of a very dark path.

I feel sad as if I had lost a friend. That's the beauty of the internets, I suppose.

That is very sad. I fell off Calculated Risk because it got too busy and I just didn't have time to even try to plow through the posts and comments any more, but Tanta always made me laugh, no matter how wryly. She was brilliant. I'm very sorry to hear this news.

    Hi Holly,
There is now a CR Companion that allows you to skip the (user-defined) trash-laden commentary making the reading somewhat easier...not that I use it, but that day is coming...not that I would eva push you away from Economisty.
This circumstance was not a surprise to many of the regular readers...who were hoping that a remission was possible...whose hopes were dashed a few weeks ago and were steeling themselves for the news...to no avail for some of us.
Anyhow...Tanta makes this gesture of giving (attending to us and our concerns about mortgage related issues...with brilliance, sure, but also sensitivity, sometimes a rare commodity at CR) --knowing that she is dying. It's a standard we could all try to meet.
