Everyone once in awhile I think it might be helpful to have a useful skill should civilization collapse. I have to imagine that the market for economists would quickly get pretty thin. Living in the Pacific Northwest, it seems natural to develop a skill in the wood products industry. With that in mind, I choose to spend part of the holiday weekend milling my own lumber:
- Need a new chain –the chain is now dull as a butter knife. I was hoping to use a newly purchased ripping chain, but it turned out to be too small.
- It is much, much easier to buy lumber at Home Depot, albeit not as satisfying as an afternoon with a chainsaw.
- If civilization collapses, I probably won’t be able to get gas for the chainsaw, so this might not be a useful skill. Need to use the ax.
- I think I prefer just chopping the timber into firewood.
Enjoy the holiday.
