The Sickos are Out and Showing Up on Fox News

NRO columnist Jerry Bowyer:

Today on Fox News’s Your World With Neil Cavuto, National Review Online columnist Jerry Bowyer attacked Michael Moore’s movie SiCKO and its positive portrayal of the health care in countries such as Britain and France. Since we're playing the spurious correlation game, I want to play too!

I regressed state level per capita personal income in 2006 on the percentage of Republican voters in the 2004 presidential election. Here's the result:

State income per capita = 52,500 - 328.48 * %Repub

t-stat for %Repub: -4.6 (highly significant)

This means that a 10% increase in Republican voters reduces per capita state income by around $3,285.

I bet there are all sorts of misleading spurious correlations like this, just like on Faux News. [PGL at Angry Bear also comments.]
