You never know how much hope change can bring. For those who do not appreciate how seeing someone break the mold can alter the ambitions of others, refer to my wife:
Conversation coming home from school pick-up yesterday: Elsa: "Mom, you know President Obama is the first president with brown skin?" Me: "Yes." Elsa: "Mom, there has never been a girl president." Me: "Yes, I know." Elsa: "Well, I don't have to worry because now there has been a brown skinned president." Me: "??? What do you mean?" Elsa: "Well, now that there has been a brown skinned president, I know there will be a girl president soon." Me: "Hmm, yes, I am sure that will eventually be true." Elsa: "Who will it be?" Me: "I do not know." Elsa: "At least I do not have to worry about it yet, because you cannot be president until you are 35 years old...it will still be a little while until I am 35."
Apparently the Obama Presidency has inspired my daughter to consider a career in politics, with the nation's highest office as her goal. Ambitious for a six year old.
I am confident she will rule with an iron fist.
